How Academic and Professional staff can collaborate with UNSW Careers and Employment

  • UNSW Careers and Employment staff can work with academic staff to identify career education opportunities within their course. Please contact us to discuss this further with the Careers Consultant assigned to your faculty
  • We encourage all staff to utilise Careers and Employment resources and direct their students to the UNSW Careers and Employment website 
  • UNSW staff can access the Careers Portal to view the full range of seminars, events, programs and resources available to UNSW students
  • We strongly support a collaborative relationship working with employers and encourage staff to refer employers to UNSW Careers and Employment to enable them access to a comprehensive range of engagement opportunities

How UNSW Careers and Employment supports your students

  • UNSW Careers and Employment support current UNSW students and up to 18 months post-graduation.
  • Assist UNSW students with their career management via Career Appointments, Career Expos, Development seminars and Employer Presentations
  • Provide Job Application Resources to assist students throughout the recruitment process
  • Provide access to Job and Employment Opportunities via the UNSW Careers portal where students can search for graduate programs, internships, volunteer positions, part-time or casual employment
  • DIPP1112 Introduction to the Workplace
    A blended learning course that students can take as a General Education or elective course. The course prepares students to enter the workplace with a deeper understanding of workplace context, recruitment practices and expectations of professionals across a range of industries. 
  • DIPP1510 Work Placement Course 
    Managed by careers and employment for students who have secured work experience or an internship/industry relevant placement and are prepared to undertake associated course work to have the experience formally recognised as part of their learning at UNSW. It is offered as a General Education subject and is open to all undergraduate students.
  • COMM5008 Global Workplace Practice 
    A 6 UOC course for Master of Commerce (Ext) and Master of Professional Accounting (Ext) international students delivered by Careers and Employment in collaboration with the Business School. The course gives students the opportunity to gain a practical understanding of workplace contexts, cultures and recruitment practices through a 100 hour internship and online/in-class work integrated learning activities. 
  • UNSW Professional Development Program (International Students) 
    A program for International Students  assists international students with English as a second language to further develop communication skills, improve confidence, and develop and understanding of the cross-cultural nature of the Australian workplace. Download brochure
  • International Student Programs and Resources 
    In addition to the Professional Development Program, several resources and programs exist specifically for international students. More information can be found via this web page. 
  • UNSW Career Leaders Program
    A program that provides UNSW students with valuable transferable skills and experience as well as an opportunity to participate in university related career activities.
  • Univative
    A 4 week inter-university competition that enhances participating students’ employability skills by placing them in real-life projects and simulating workplace diversity. Students from any Faculty work in small multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver innovative solutions for their business cases which they outline in a report and presentation.
  • Mentorship Programs
    Careers and Employment help facilitate career mentoring programs within different faculties to help students connect with alumni and gain first hand insight into different industries. These include the Business School Career Mentoring Program and Career Accelerator and Arts and Social Sciences Career Ready Mentoring Program.
